Alterations and additions to a large Cape Cod style home with views over Sydney harbour and the Pacific beyond. The exterior alterations included extending the living areas and balcony at top floor, adding windows and bifold doors to the rear elevation to better capture the ocean views and rendering external brickwork for a more contemporary appearance. A carport was added and the driveway and front garden altered to provide more usable space on the steeply sloping site. The interior spaces were reconfigured to add a large ensuite bathroom and dressing room to the master bedroom, larger children’s bedrooms and a self-contained guest suite at the top floor. The first and second floors were completely refurbished with a mixture of timber, tile and paint finishes to create the feel of an urban spa retreat. Located within the ‘Harbour protection zone’ the project also involved a rigorous town planning application process.
